India declared at the conclusion of the G20 summit in New Delhi in September that it would host a virtual summit of the group’s leaders before to the end of its leadership.

The leaders of the G20 member countries have already received invites from India to the virtual summit.

It has been discovered that India would concentrate on the issues facing the Global South, or developing nations, in its development plan for the alliance.

After the summit, there won’t be a joint result paper.

According to diplomatic sources, the Israel-Hamas conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war will be discussed.

India is anticipated to concentrate on its development program, which includes projects in the fields of sustainable energy, climate financing, and digital public infrastructure.

India has been establishing itself as a prominent voice in recent years, drawing attention to the issues, difficulties, and ambitions of the developing world, particularly Africa.

In related news, on Tuesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar welcomed G20 envoys at the India International Convention Centre (IICC), also known as Yashobhoomi, located in Dwarka.

He expressed his gratitude to the G20 members for their “whole-hearted” support of India’s chairmanship throughout the talks.

“Happy to welcome G20 ambassadors, as well as guests from other nations and international organizations, to the Yashobhoomi Convention Center today.” On “X,” Jaishankar stated, “I want to thank them for their unwavering support during our presidency.”

Similar to our G20 Presidency, this cutting-edge conference and exhibition center showcases Bharat’s strengths. He expressed his confidence that it would serve as a fantastic location for important international events in the future.

The September 9 publication of the G20 joint statement was seen as a major diplomatic win for India as it achieved a breakthrough on the divisive Ukraine issue despite concerns that the summit would not be able to release the text due to stark disagreements on the subject.

As the president of the G20, India has prioritized topics that would help the Global South, such as equal access to global health care, digital innovation, climate resilience, and inclusive development.

Approximately two-thirds of the world’s population, over 75% of commerce, and 85% of the global GDP are all represented by the G20 member nations.

This alliance includes the following countries: the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, and the EU.

At the meeting in New Delhi, the African Union was admitted as the newest member of the G20.
