In order to guarantee Australia’s place in the semi-finals, Glenn Maxwell created history on Tuesday night by hitting a spectacular 201 not-out against Afghanistan. The Australians were down to 91 for 7 in their chase of 292, when Maxwell appeared with a spectacular knock. He endured discomfort and cramps throughout the closing stages of the pursuit, but he refused to give up. Maxwell scored an undefeated 201, his maiden double century in ODIs, with 21 boundaries and 10 sixes, guaranteeing his side a top-four finish.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-273660″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-envious-im-all-yours-says-shikhar-pahariya-in-response-to-janhvi-kapoors-question-.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com envious im all yours says shikhar pahariya in response to janhvi kapoors question” width=”1397″ height=”1029″ title=”Maxwell's 'True Patriotism' that Led AUS to the Semis is Celebrated by an Ex-PAK Pacer 3″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-envious-im-all-yours-says-shikhar-pahariya-in-response-to-janhvi-kapoors-question-.jpg 262w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-envious-im-all-yours-says-shikhar-pahariya-in-response-to-janhvi-kapoors-question–150×110.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1397px) 100vw, 1397px” />

The Australian all-rounder received unending praise from the global cricket community as a result of Maxwell’s valiant efforts. Former speedster for Pakistan Shoaib Akhtar jumped on the bandwagon, calling the innings a miracle he had never seen before.

Speaking in his most recent YouTube video, Akhtar said that despite having watched the game for a while, he had never seen such insanity.

We saw a miracle. His arms and legs stopped functioning. Afghanistan vs Glenn Maxwell. It came to 91 for 7. One man, Glenn Maxwell, came next. He could have gone for the first ball, but there were two missed catches. However, what a fantastic innings he played for Australia. This is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I’ve been a cricket fan for a while, but never have I seen someone pull off anything like this with no one behind them. In his video, Akhtar said, “He was just standing there and hitting sixes.”

The legendary pacer from Pakistan said that Maxwell would have chosen to quit if he had been unable to bat in the last ten overs. However, the right-hander made the decision to go on and was successful in winning the game.

Bravo for him. He had the option to quit up or get retired wounded, but he chose not to. He was motivated by genuine patriotism, believing that Australia needed to win these two points in some way. They would have been in serious danger if they had lost this game, Akhtar remarked.

When Maxwell scored an incredible double hundred against Afghanistan, Captain Pat Cummins did not hesitate to declare it the best knock in ODI history. The former was the second violin in the massive combination that lasted for 202 runs.

“I refer to every inning I have ever seen. This is most likely the best ODI innings in history. Cummins remarked on Maxwell’s knock that propelled Australia to the semi-final, saying, “We’re just talking about it, all the players, and we’ve decided it’s one of those days where you just go, ‘I was there in the stadium the day Glenn Maxwell chased down that total by himself.”

The skipper of Australia believed Maxwell will be fit enough to participate in their last league match on November 11 in Pune against Bangladesh.

“I have no doubt that Maxwell will be well. Even though he was cramping, you could see how much he loved representing Australia and would stop at nothing to play. I’m confident everything will work out,” Cummins said.
