Jos Buttler will captain England on their December white-ball Caribbean trip

With a poor World Cup 2023 campaign under their belt, England has revealed a fresh look lineup for their forthcoming December white-ball trip to the West Indies.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-278541″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-jos-buttler-will-captain-england-on-their-december-white-ball-caribbean-trip-downl.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com jos buttler will captain england on their december white ball caribbean trip downl” width=”975″ height=”585″ title=”Jos Buttler will captain England on their December white-ball Caribbean trip 9″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-jos-buttler-will-captain-england-on-their-december-white-ball-caribbean-trip-downl.jpg 290w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-jos-buttler-will-captain-england-on-their-december-white-ball-caribbean-trip-downl-150×90.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px” />

Just five players from the Indian Cricket World Cup squad will be playing in the Caribbean ODI series, while Jos Buttler will skipper both the ODI and T20 sides.

The remaining players from the World Cup team who will not play are Mark Wood, Joe Root, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, and David Willey (retired).

The white-ball captain is joined by Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, and Liam Livingstone. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, the test openers, are included in the team of fifteen players.

For the T20Is, Moeen Ali has been selected despite not being named in the West Indies 50-over squad for the series. For the T20I leg of the series, Reece Topley, Chris Woakes, and Adil Rashid—all members of the World Cup squad—will be available. They were not chosen for the West Indies ODIs.

Josh Tongue, along with fellow seamer John Turner, who has shown promise for Hampshire in the domestic league and with the Trent Rockets in The Hundred, has been named in the T20I and ODI teams after a stellar summer for the home team in the Test format. ICC documents.

The series, which runs from December 3–21 and consists of three ODIs and five T20Is, gives Buttler’s team a chance to create fresh long-term strategies for the 50-over format while preparing for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the USA and the West Indies in June.

The series will be West Indies’ first international cricket match since they were eliminated from contention for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. They last participated in an international tournament in August, when they were on tour with India. The team won the T20I series 3-2, but lost the three-match ODI series 2-1.

The third and final 50-over match will be played in Barbados on December 9, while the first two ODIs will be held in Antigua on December 3 and 6.

The first Twenty20 International (T20I) will be held in Barbados on December 12; there will then be two T20Is in Grenada on December 14 and 16; the last two T20Is of the series will be played in Trinidad on December 19 and 21.
